ZigZag Handmade is a multimedia collaborative performance and puppetry group based in Philadelphia, PA with an emphasis on fiber art. I have been with this group of artists since its inception in 2012.
Handmade Philly, an independent, member-run collective, encourages artists, crafters and designers to join Greater Philadelphias growing network of professional and amateur artists. Once limited to the members of Philly Etsy Team, the group seeks to further our citys local, sustainable handmade movement by building community, providing educational workshops and promotional events.
The Philadelphia Chapter of the Women's Caucus for Art is committed to creating a support network for women in the visual arts in Philadelphia and surrounding communities. We strive to increase awareness and recognition of women in the visual arts through our exhibitions, lectures, publications and other educational programming. I joined the National Caucus back in 2005, and the local Philadelphia Caucus in 2009. Shortly after joining I became the Secretary for the Philadelphia Women's Caucus. The Philadelphia Chapter is an amazing group of women who have helped me to elevate my career and my self esteem. Just like most artists, I tend to be my own worst critic. It helps to have a stable support structure of women artists who motivate and inspire projects and creativity.
Forty local and international artists were jury selected to participate in this four day event called Art in the Open, which took place along the Schuylkill River Banks. The idea is for artists to create work which exhibits their relationship to the urban environment. I was jury selected to participate for the Second Annual exhibition in June 2011.
